ABC Cancels Glee Star’s New Show

Bad news for former Glee star Vanessa Lengies: Her new show, Mixology, has been canceled by ABC. Bummer!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, bleak ratings led to ABC’s decision to nix the ensemble comedy’s second season, despite the fact that it had managed to gain a little momentum. Such is the month of May in TV world: It’s a lot like The Hunger Games, but worse.

Vanessa originally opted to make her exit from Glee in favor of Mixology in 2013, when she needed more of a chance to work on her acting chops. As Vanessa tells it, Glee was fun, but it wasn’t the best place to develop her talent. She was hired per episode — and definitely credits the show for the awesome opportunity that playing Sugar gave her — but it was time to move on.

“For an actress who really hasn’t gotten to act for two years, [Mixology] was like letting a wild dog out of its cage,” Vanessa has said

Meanwhile, she is keeping her options open for a Glee return, but it hasn’t happened yet. Hopefully, Vanessa will be able to find a new home on TV — one that allows her to stretch her acting wings in exactly the way she wants to.

Are you bummed Mixology got canceled? Sound off below!
