ABC’s Summer Hit Mistresses Renewed For Season 2!

Alyssa Milano fans (AKA, everyone, duh) can rejoice, knowing her ABC summer series, Mistresses has been renewed, as of September 25.

The show premiered in the United States on June 3, 2013 to 4.4 million viewers, keeping a fairly steady rating throughout the summer with its stories of betrayal, infidelity (mistresses, ya know), and steamy, steamy sex.

At the center of the show is Savi (Alyssa)’s friendship with April (Rochelle Aytes), Joss (Jes Macallan), and Karen (Yunjin Kim): four women who make questionable choices in their lives, and then support one another as they have to deal with the consequences.

While plenty of soap tropes pop up (not-really-dead husband, anyone?), it’s a fun show based on a British series which ran from 2008-2010, and we look forward to the next season.

Though the first run ended with only a season median 3.9 million viewers, ABC clearly felt the value in giving the many, many cliffhangers (baby daddy? Death?) a chance for resolution when it returns in summer 2014.

Did you watch Mistresses during its first season? Will you watch the show now that you know it’ll be back during sunnier weather? Weigh in with your thoughts below.
