Orange Is the New Black Actress on Overcoming Body Issues: “I’m Not a Size Zero”
Orange Is the New Black is known for portraying female characters who are outside the very-narrow Hollywood norm. Characters of all different ages, races, sexual orientations, and body types are given the spotlight in a way that is incredibly rare for TV. And it's a spotlight that sometimes means stripping down and getting raunchy. Can that be uncomfortable?
Fortunately, she overcame that, and she says playing Daya has helped her focus less on her body. "I think that the acknowledgment from fans and people in the industry and concentrating on my work has kind of guided my thoughts to my talent as opposed to how I look," she explained to Latina. "It’s definitely helped me to love myself more."
