Kandi Burruss Has Tough Advice For “Real” Men: Is She Calling Out Riley’s Dad?
Kandi Burruss has raised her 11-year-old daughter Riley on her own, and she has always identified with single mothers, working tirelessly to make their lives just a little bit easier. But now she’s sharing some choice words for men who bail on their kids when the relationship with the child’s mother doesn’t work out.
On January 8 Kandi Instagramed a written message that said, “A Real man takes care of his kids no matter what the relationship is with the mother of his child.” As if it wasn’t clear enough that the Real Housewives of Atlanta star agrees with that powerful statement, she captioned the post, “by @iambenzino "POINT BLANK!!!!" Preach!”
Kandi kept it classy and didn’t mention anyone specifically, but we couldn’t help but wonder if this bold statement is aimed at Kandi’s ex, Russell "Block" Spencer. Russell is Riley’s dad, and as far as we know, he’s been largely absent from the pre-teen’s life. He’s appeared once or twice on RHoA and took Riley to a school dance a few years back, but other than that he doesn’t seem to be very involved in her life.
On the other hand, Kandi’s current fiancé, Todd Tucker, is the definition of a real man — despite what Mama Joyce thinks. Todd also has a daughter from a previous relationship, and although she lives with her mother in New York, Todd spends as much time with her as he can. He even took her to the Bahamas with Kandi and Riley this past Christmas!
Mama Joyce may have her fair share of issues with Todd, but we think he’s been great for Kandi and Riley, especially with her own dad is largely out of the picture. There’s no excuse for not being involved in your kid’s life, but that’s Russell’s loss!
