Get ready to have a little bit of Glee’s Blaine (Darren Criss) with your Thanksgiving turkey this year! For the second year in a row, Fox has decided to air a new episode of Glee on Thanksgiving night. The network has announced that Season 5, Episode 7: “Puppet Master” will air on Thursday, November 28, which just happens to be Thanksgiving 2013.
So what sort of Glee shenanigans will you be enjoying as you munch on your mashed potatoes and chow down on pumpkin pie? Well, both Demi Lovato (Dani) and fellow celebrity guest star Adam Lambert (Starchild) will be back for this episode so that’s good news!
Plus, the whole show promises to be a very Blaine-centric episode, as the New Directions all get pretty annoyed with the former Warbler when he becomes super controlling and tries to take over the plan for Nationals. Oh, and Darren Criss will be singing with a bunch of puppets. Which just might be the most quirky/amazing thing we’ve seen on Glee in a while.
Come to think of it, such a colorful, quirky, and off-beat situation really hasn’t been seen on Glee since last year’s Thanksgiving episode: Season 4, Episode 7: “Dynamic Duets.” Just switch out quirky and colorful puppets for a bunch of quirky and colorful superheroes.
We loved the Glee superheroes. [A year later, and we still yell out “BLAM! SLAINE!” at various random moments. No joke.] Plus, we love the idea of Blaine and puppets. But unfortunately, it seems like the majority of the TV viewing masses may not agree with us.
Unfortunately, the ratings for last year’s Thanksgiving episode were Glee’s lowest ever. Like, in the history of the series. This measly 4 million figure was only matched by the most recent Glee episode, November 7’s Season 5, Episode 4: “A Katy or a Gaga.” So far, most of Glee’s episodes this season have had lower-than-usual numbers. Given this pattern, we’re worried that people just might not watch this year’s Thanksgiving episode at all.
Look, we don’t care if your Aunt Patty wants to talk to you about life or whatever. Darren Criss is singing with a bunch of puppets. Tell your aunt she can wait.
