Alessandra Ambrosio Explains How She Got Her Body Back Post-Baby

Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio might be in awesome shape five years after her first child, a daughter named Anja, was born, but right after her pregnancy? Alessandra, like most moms, had to fight to get her body back post-baby.

And for Alessandra, this meant hitting the gym — for the first time in her life. We know what you’re thinking, but please try to suppress your jealous urges.

“When I started with Victoria’s Secret at 21, I never worked out,” Alessandra explains to Self magazine. “Then, when I got pregnant with my daughter, I gained about 60 pounds and had to walk the Victoria’s Secret show three months later. That was the first time I had to really fight to get my body back in shape.”

Wait, she’s telling us she managed to drop 60 pounds in three months? Please, please share your secrets.

“When you’re in a bikini, your abs are the most important,” Alessandra says. “I like doing bridges, and I’ll also finish a workout with 100 bicycle crunches.”

Also part of Alessandra’s fitness routine: Supermans for her back, and throwing her kids into the air to develop those arm muscles. But the 33-year-old mom acknowledges that having a good body isn’t the most important thing in the world — and she really wants her kids to be aware of that fact.

“Having a perfect body isn’t everything,” Alessandra says. “I want my daughter to be nice, have a good education, and be disciplined. That’s what makes people like her. A perfect butt doesn’t make an amazing person. It’s about feeling confident.”

Amen to that!
