Watch Alex Preston Sing His Original Song “Fairytales” in American Idol 2014 Top 8 — April 2, 2014

Can you believe that in just over a month we'll have ourselves a winner for Season 13 of American Idol? We can't either, but you know what they say: Time flies when you’re having fun! After saying goodbye to the adorable Majesty Rose last week, we’re one step closer to meeting our new champion. Who will walk away with the crown? We have our guess, but only time will truly tell!

Tonight (April 2), the eight remaining hopefuls go head-to-head in hopes of winning America’s votes. The singers really have the chance to show how much they’ve grown throughout the competition, as they’ve been tasked with singing the songs they first performed in their auditions.

Last to take the stage is Alex Preston, who blew the judges away in Salt Lake City with his original song “Fairytales.” Following his audition, even Harsh Harry announced that he’d go see Alex in concert, which (if you ask us) is just about the best compliment you could possibly get! Alex is singing his song once again with a slightly different arrangement, and hoping to impress them just as much as he did before.

“I just love that you’ve stayed true to yourself since the very beginning,” says J.Lo. “The things we loved about you in the beginning are the things we love about you now. You’ve grown and gotten so comfortable!”

“You did an original song and that’s what it’s all about,” Keith adds. “I looked over her [at the other contestants] and half of these guys were singing it with you. That’s a good sign! Great job!”

Do you think Alex deserves to make it to the Top 7? Watch the video below and sound off in the comments!
