Grey’s Anatomy Alum Eric Dane Joins Twitter

Our dreams of having the entire Grey’s Anatomy cast on Twitter are finally coming true! In the latest Grey’s social media update, our former McSteamy Eric Dane has officially joined up. Wait, will this help us heal from the loss of Mark Sloan (which, two years later, we are still reeling from) or amplify the pain? We’re going to go with help!

And if Eric’s first Twitter post is any indication, he’s catching on pretty quickly. Not only is he well aware of what hashtags are, but he’s using them in full force. In his maiden Twitter voyage, the only trending topics he forgot to include are #blessed and #nofilter.

“Howdy folks, I’ve happily succumbed to the pressures of social media,” Eric wrote in a WhoSay post, which also served as his first tweet. “Welcome aboard, let the good fight continue, hope you enjoy the ride. -E #firstsocialmediapost #thelastship #TNT #lovemyjob #grateful #sundaynights9pm #staytuned.”

If the good fight is a world without Twitter, we don’t want it! Now that Eric’s on Twitter, we can only hope for an influx of selfies. #Please?

And in case you’re doubting that this is really Eric, don’t worry — showrunner Shonda Rhimes (and Eric’s former boss!) has already confirmed his identity when she tweeted to welcome him to the site she so often uses to communicate with fans, and most importantly, dispel rumors about the show.

We may be struggling to survive the Grey’s Anatomy hiatus, but let’s not forget that not only did this summer alone bring us the opportunity to see Eric on a more regular basis as he stars in TNT’s The Last Ship, but also the chance to hear more from him (and see more photos of his beautiful, beautiful face) on Twitter. It must be our birthday!

Have you welcomed Eric to Twitter yet? What do you hope he’ll share?
