American Idol Alum Justin Guarini Broke and Struggling to Feed His Family

Back in 2002, Justin Guarini watched as Kelly Clarkson tearfully sang “A Moment Like This” while accepting the title of the first American Idol. And though he placed second, the singer still received plenty of fame and recognition.

Now, 10 years since the cinematic genius that was the movie/musical From Justin to Kelly, Justin has resorting to going hungry to make ends meet for his family.

On August 14 the singer posted a rather depressing piece on his blog titled, “Early Morning Madness.” In it he talks about his fall from fame and his daily struggle to put food on the table.

“There was a time when I couldn’t walk the street w/o being stopped a hundred times for a photo or a press of flesh,” he writes. “Now one in a thousand might stop me, or notice. For the rest I might (might) trigger some dim memory, stuffed at the back of long unfired synaptic pathways overgrown with the clutter of social media.”

The 34-year-old singer is now married with kids and claims the stress of providing for his family is overwhelming.

“I have spent days skipping meals in order to make sure I have enough,” he continues. “To make sure my children, and my wife have enough.”

Hopefully Justin’s upcoming role on Broadway as Paris in Romeo and Juliet starring Orlando Bloom will help ease the financial blow. This isn’t the former reality star’s first time on the Great White Way. He also starred in Green Day’s rock opera American Idiot back in 2011.

But from the looks of this blog post, things aren’t going well for the Idol star.

“Now, I’m unafraid to say that I am terrified,” he writes. “I am struggling to make each day meet the next without breaking down and curling up. Sometimes I envy people who sit at a desk all day (at least you know where your next meal is coming from). I’ll smile, and laugh, and joke, and entertain … because sometimes it’s the only way to keep the ghosts of regret and loss at bay.”
