Alyssa Milano Wants to Lose 10 Lbs: Jay Mohr’s “Fat-Shaming” Really “Hurt”

Here’s a bit of news that will only shock a person whose sensitivity chip is completely broken — when Alyssa Milano’s co-star publicly mocked her weight, it hurt her.

In late December, the 41-year-old star’s former Ghost Whisperer co-star Jay Mohr poked fun at her physical appearance. “It seems like she had a baby and said, ‘I don’t really give a s—’” Jay said in a radio interview, “I read it on her gut.”

His comments soon went viral online, and Alyssa says she first read them on Christmas Day... not a great thing to hear on what’s supposed to be one of the happiest days of the year. “It hurt me,” she told Extra’s Mario Lopez, via Us Weekly. “I was affected by it and I wanted to remind him that I'm a human being and that this hurts."

Alyssa publicly responded to Jay on Twitter Christmas Day, writing, “@jaymohr37 So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife.

He apologized nine days later, writing on his blog that he just assumed his comment would appear “incongruous,” seeing how “beautiful Alyssa Milano is" and that “she is the size of a thimble.” She tweeted back “@jaymohr37 Thank you. Apology accepted. (She grunts while aggressively yet cautiously prying off her head-to-toe Spanx). #PassTheCookies”

The thing is, Alyssa doesn’t seem to agree with him on the “size of a thimble” part. She told Mario, "I gained 55 pounds when I was pregnant, I still have 10 more to lose."

So while Jay has apologized and Alyssa has forgiven him, it appears she still walked away from it all still feeling a need to lose weight. The situation is smoothed over, but his comments are being accepted as truth. To be honest, that bugs us.

Because, at the end of the day, we feel like the moral that has emerged from this story is that Alyssa Milano is a super-sweet and forgiving person, but still needs to lose 10 pounds. And we’re not sure we’re okay with that assessment.
