Amanda Bynes: Doctors Extend Psychiatric Hold For 30 Days (UPDATE)

Things are looking even more serious for Amanda Bynes.

She's been in a psychiatric hospital for the past two weeks, but she was supposed to be released today and appear in court, where her parents are seeking a conservatorship. UPDATE: Conservatorship has been granted to Amanda's mother.

However, TMZ reports that Amanda's doctors determined she's not well enough to leave the hospital for the hearing. A judge granted Amanda's psych hold extension for another 30 days.

TMZ added that, by law, doctors can only get an order like that if the patient is "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder." Since the request was granted, it speaks volumes about Amanda's mental state.

This is so sad, but at least she’s on a path to healing. She now has doctors who are keeping a close eye on her, doing whatever it takes to help her get well. Best wishes to Amanda.

UPDATE: The judge granted Amanda's parents a temporary conservatorship, which will stay in effect until September 30. It covers Amanda's personal care but also gives her mother the ability to manage the star's $4 million savings.
