Former ‘RHONJ’ Star Amber Marchese Reveals Lyme Disease Diagnosis
Lyme disease has become synonymous with yet another Real Housewives star.
“About two weeks ago, I had flu-like symptoms which included low-grade fever, headache, aches, chills, joint pain, and awful neck pain,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
“I posted my condition on social media and a friend suggested I get tested for Lyme disease,” the 38-year-old continued. “She shared with me her struggles with Lyme disease and we shared many of the same symptoms.”
After requesting the test during an oncology appointment and it coming back positive, the former reality star learned how “fortunate” she was having caught it early with no treatment necessary.
“I feel really blessed that I caught it before it is too late,” she said. “I know so many people suffering from this disease and it sounds horrific.”
One of those people, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Yolanda Hadid, has been very outspoken about her battle with the debilitating disorder as well as how it has affected children Bella and Anwar, who have also been diagnosed.
While having cancer and Lyme disease might get some down, Amber is keeping as optimistic an outlook as humanly possible.
“I believe in the power of the mind,” the mom of two added. “You are sick if you want to be sick, you are well if you want to be well. That is just the way I choose to live my life.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 7 — sans Amber — premieres Sunday, July 10, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
