Amber Portwood’s Criminal History: A Timeline of Her Arrests

It’s been a while since the Teen Mom finale aired back in August, and let’s just say things haven’t been looking good for Amber Portwood.

Amber was most recently arrested for pill poppin’ and probation violation, but her brushes with the law started back in 2010.

Between the drug possession, drunken IHOP fights, and domestic abuse, we can barely keep up with Amber’s multiple arrests, so we’ve created a handy timeline for you to refer to!

January 26, 2010: Teen Mom Season 1, Episode 8 “Happy Birthday” airs on MTV and shows footage of Amber slapping and choking Gary.

September 28, 2010: Teen Mom Season 2, episode 10 “Lashing Out” airs on MTV and shows footage of Amber hitting Gary in the head.

October 2010: Violent footage from Teen Mom causes Child Protective Services and the police to investigate Amber. They find “evidence that requires further investigation.”

November 3, 2010: Amber allows CPS to monitor her for six months, but she’s allowed to retain custody of Leah during this time. Amber also enrolls in an Informal Adjustment, which requires her to go to therapy and do community service.

November 18, 2010: Amber is charged with three counts of domestic violence toward Gary. Two of the three charges are domestic battery felonies. Yikes!

December 27, 2010: Amber is arrested for her domestic violence charges and held at Madison County Jail in Anderson, Indiana for 24 hours.

December 28, 2010: Amber is released from jail on a $5,000 bail after entering into a not guilty plea.

August 25, 2011: Amber checks out of rehab after two months.

December 14, 2011: Gary Shirley is awarded full custody of Leah.

December 19, 2011: Amber is arrested for violation of her probation, failing to complete her GED, failing to take anger management courses, and failing to set up a college fund for Leah. She is also found with pills, which she fails to provide a urine sample for.

February 6, 2012: Amber is sentenced to 5 years in prison, but thanks to her plea deal, she can avoid the sentence if she goes to rehab.

May 24, 2012: Amber tells a judge she has not adhered to her rehab program, reneging on her plea deal. She reportedly asks to go to prison, instead.

June 5, 2012: Amber is re-sentenced to five years in prison

June 14, 2012: Amber checks into Rockville Correctional Facility at 7:45 a.m.

November 4, 2013: Amber is officially released from Indiana's Rockville Correctional Facility after less than two years thanks to good behavior. Amber will be subject to random drug testing and will have to check in with her parole officer several times a month. If she violates anything, she could go back to jail.
