Like many Dancing With the Stars contestants, Amber Riley (Mercedes) has experienced an injury or two as a result of her hardcore dancing schedule. The Glee actress has been powering through the past few weeks with an injured knee, and now she’s turning to some alternative treatments as a way to help.

On October 19, Amber posted an Instagram picture of herself in the middle of trying Cryotherapy, a type of medical treatment that uses very low temperatures as a way to decrease pain and inflammation. The treatment works to destroy cells by crystallizing the cytosol (aka the liquid found inside of body cells).

The photo shows Amber locked inside a tall, creepy-looking cylindrical cage with what appears to be dry ice oozing out of the edges. “I did it! Cryotherapy,” she wrote. “Cold doesn't even begin to describe that torture chamber.”

Torture chamber? Not so fast. “Hahahaha no it wasn't bad! I feel so much better!” she added. “THANK YOU @mariamenounos78! You're an angel.”

TV correspondent Maria Menounos is a Dancing With the Stars vet, and she was paired with Amber’s dance pro partner Derek Hough last year. Maria made it all the way to 4th place during her season, so we bet she knows a thing or two about dancing through the pain. How awesome of her to lend Amber some tips on how to treat it!

Are you surprised by how Amber is treating her injuries? Sound off below, and catch them on DWTS tonight, Monday, October 21 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
