As we’ve seen over the years, Dancing with the Stars is not without its risks and we’re not just referring to the fact that not everyone looks good in sequins. There have been numerous injuries sustained by the contestants, with the latest one apparently remaining a secret until now.

Glee star Amber Riley (Mercedes) has emerged as the definite front runner this season, especially after she earned those two 10s for her samba this week. And making her performances all the more spectacular is the fact that she’s doing so while she’s a bit hobbled.

Amber appeared with dance partner Derek Hough on Arsenio Hall’s talk show this week to reveal her funny-sounding but nonetheless painful injury. “The scientific word: She pulled a ‘butt muscle,’” Derek explains about Amber with a laugh.

But the injury itself was no laughing matter. “I had [a butt injury] when we did the jive, yes,” Amber confirms. “I did that cartwheel. [To audience] Did anybody see me do that cartwheel? During the dress rehearsal, I pulled my butt muscle, and it did not feel good.”

Yikes. In addition, Amber previously sustained a knee injury from the show, for which she underwent special medical treatments this week. Ouch! We wish her a speedy recovery, and we have a feeling she’ll continue to knock her dances out of the park, regardless of any setbacks.
