AMC Cancels Low Winter Sun — More Lennie James’ Morgan For The Walking Dead?
Is it wrong to skip right over the mourning period for Low Winter Sun and hope it means more Morgan Jones on The Walking Dead?
AMC has canceled Low Winter Sun after its first season, which aired 10 episodes from August to October. It was based on a 2006 British miniseries and starred Brits Mark Strong and Lennie James.
Lennie also plays Morgan on The Walking Dead. He was the first person to help Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) back on Season 1 when Rick emerged from the hospital and the poop had hit the zombie apocalypse fan. Morgan returned in Season 3, Episode 12, "Clear," which is widely considered one of the best eps of the series.
Over the summer, Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple said Morgan would return in Season 4. (Update: In February, Scott clarified his earlier quote, telling Entertainment Weekly he was misquoted about Morgan returning in Season 4. Maybe he only said Morgan would return and it was assumed that he meant this season.) Half of the season has aired now, and Rick’s group is now scattered away from the prison. It's possible Rick and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) head back to Rick's old town, where they met up with Morgan last season. Maybe Morgan joins the group on a more permanent basis, if he isn't still a little mentally ... fragile ... after the death of his son. Duane.
We were already looking forward to Morgan’s return in the back half of Season 4, and now we have a glimmer of hope that he’ll be around for more than just another guest role. We shall see…
Are you sorry that Low Winter Sun is over or were you never quite into that show anyway?
The Walking Dead Season 4 returns on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
