All season long on American Horror Story: Coven, the biggest mystery plaguing us fans was that of the next Supreme. Which witch would ascend to succeed Fiona Shaw (Jessica Lange) in the prestigious position? January 29's finale — Episode 13, "The Seven Wonders" — finally gave us the answer.

The Seven Wonders have spoken, and the new Supreme is… Cordelia Foxx (Sarah Paulson).

During the seven-stage test, the other aspiring Supremes fell one by one. Misty (Lily Rabe) never made it back from her own version of hell during the descension into the netherworld. Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) managed to transmutate herself onto the spikes of Robichaux's iron gate. Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe) couldn't perform vitalum vitalis at the crucial time. And Kyle (Evan Peters) choked Madison (Emma Roberts) to death after she refused to use her power of resurgence on Zoe's body.

Luckily for the coven, Cordelia embraced her Supreme lineage at Myrtle's (Frances Conroy) suggestion. And the headmistress knew she was a natural fit after she regenerated her own (original) eyeballs.

We should have known all along, especially because — as one Tumblr user pointed out — a spoiler has been chilling in the opening titles since the very first episode. Behind Sarah Paulson's name is a depiction of Santa Muerte, a Mexican folk saint also known as "The Lady of the Seven Powers." Bingo.

Thus Cordelia begins her glorious reign and ushers Robichaux into a new era of prosperity. Bow down, witches!
