Original story (June 12, 2014): Double the Sarah Paulson, double the fun! The 38-year-old actress just announced that she will be playing a conjoined twins in American Horror Story: Freak Show — more specifically, twins with the same body but two heads.

"So excited to be playing Bette and Dot this season," Sarah Paulson tweeted, along with this image. "Two heads are better than one!"

We knew that Sarah would be playing one of the "unusuals" rescued and recruited by Jessica Lange's German expat character for a '50s-era freak show in Jupiter, FL — but we didn't know the specifics of any other character until now.

Believe it or not, "diprosopic parapagus" twins — twins with one trunk with two faces, like the ones Sarah will play — do exist. You may remember Abigail and Brittany Hensel, the subject of the 2012 TLC show Abby & Brittany, who are now 24.

Sarah — a fixture on American Horror Story since its first season — just recently revealed her "Holy s—t!" reaction to Freak Show's first script, and we wonder if her characters' circumstances were part of that strong reaction.

Then again, the actress said way back in February that she was working on a "special skill," so either she knew about her unique role for months or Bette and Dot will have a particular talent.

In any case, FX's chosen VFX house will have their work cut out for them — since Sarah, surprisingly or not, only has one head in real life. And the dual role will be a tricky one for Sarah to act out, as well! Does it mean that she'll get twice the salary this year?

Update (June 24, 2014): Sarah revealed to Vulture that this image doesn't actually show what her characters will look like; it's just a mock-up. "Everyone thinks that is the character of Dot and Bette in terms of the way I look — that's just what the company came up with [to] digitally show the two heads to Ryan," she said. "They used a picture of me as [Asylum character] Lana Winters because it was in the period. So that's not what I'll actually look like as Dot and Bette."
