Considering how mangled Idina Menzel's name emerged from John Travolta's mouth during the 86th Academy Awards on March 1, we can hardly imagine how he'd pronounce the name of American Horror Story: Coven star Gabourey Sidibe.
Then again, Chelsea Handler's assistant Chuy Bravo didn't fare much better as he recorded promos for Gabourey's stint as guest host of Chelsea Lately.
During Gabourey's opening monologue, she showed footage of the 4'2" sidekick trying take after take to say Gabby's name correctly — saying it like "Gah-bor-ee See-dee-bee" and "Gah-bor-ney Suh-duh-bay" and finally "Go-berry Suh-buddy."
FYI, the 30-year-old's name is pronounced "Gab-uh-ray Sid-ee-bay."
In case you somehow missed John Travolta's now-viral flub, he introduced Idina Menzel's performance of her Oscar-winning song from Frozen, "Let It Go," but somehow pronounced her name like "Adele Dazeem." (By all reports, it was just a slip of the tongue, John is embarrassed, and Idina is amused!)
Now that she's done with Coven, Gabourey can next be seen in the Shailene Woodley drama White Bird in a Blizzard — and she also has the comedies Gravy and Life Partners on deck. Let's just hope the voiceover artists for those promos do better than Chuy!
