A former American Idol contestant who made it all the way to Hollywood is now on his way to prison.

Brandon Cox, who appeared on the show in 2012, was sentenced  on Wednesday to 70 years in prison.

The 26-year-old was found guilty on multiple charges of child pornography, the Daily Mail reported.

He received the maximum sentence possible after a jury found him guilty in January.

Throughout the trial, the former reality star insisted he was innocent and continued to do so at his sentencing on Wednesday.

However, 275 images were discovered on Brandon’s computer, including one that showed someone performing a sex act on an infant, according to District Attorney Randall Houston.

“It’s very rare for us to deal with child porn cases where the images depict such young victims,” Houston said. “Usually it may be young girls, 14 to 15, which is bad, don’t get me wrong.

“But he had photos and videos of toddlers, 4- or 5-year-olds. There were even photos of an infant engaged in sexual acts.”

He then went on to call Brandon “sick.”

Brandon was already under investigation when he entered and earned a spot on the final audition round of Idol, but it’s unclear if producers of the show were aware of this at the time.

The former contestant continues to maintain his innocence and plans to appeal his verdict.

After the sentencing Assistant District Attorney Kristy Peoples said that the biggest concern was protecting Brandon’s son, who is just 4 years old.
