Carrie Underwood, Other Contestants Returning For ‘American Idol’ Series Finale (UPDATE)
UPDATE (4/6/16): According to TMZ, we can add Season 1 co-host Brian Dunkleman and Season 3 fan favorite William Hung to the list of those returning as well as the original panel of judges — Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson.
Original story (3/24/16): Prepare for a huge dose of nostalgia during American Idol’s series finale.
We’ve long suspected that a slew of alums would return to bid the show a fond farewell, but now we’re freaking out at the list — which includes a performance from the Carrie Underwood.
The April 7 show, which will be the end of an era, won’t feature a live appearance by Season 1 champ Kelly Clarkson because she’s going to pop with her second baby any day now.
Here’s a winners refresher (minus the Season 11 champion): Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, and Nick Fradiani.
And here are the other contestants — that we know of so far — partaking in the homecoming:
Ace Young, Allison Iraheta, Amber Holcomb, Blake Lewis, Bo Bice, Brandon Rogers, Bucky Covington, Carly Smithson, Casey James, Chris Daughtry, Clark Beckham, Clay Aiken, Colton Dixon, Constantine Maroulis, Danny Gokey, Diana DeGarmo, Elliott Yamin, George Huff, James Durbin, Jessica Sanchez, Josh Gracin, Joshua Ledet, Justin Guarini, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Kimberley Locke, Kree Harrison, LaToya London, Lauren Alaina, Melinda Doolittle, Pia Toscano, Sanjaya, Skylar Laine, and Tamyra Gray.
While this is already a huge list, we certainly wouldn’t be mad if they squeezed in a few more alums!
The two-part American Idol series finale airs Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
