The American Idol judges for Season 12  Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Randy Jackson  are on the hunt for the next big American Idol winner in 2013. Of course the cast also includes host Ryan Seacrest, arguably Hollywood's hardest working man, who's been with the show since it started back in 2002. 

For American Idol 2013, producers made several changes to the format of the show, in addition to adding three new judges. Many of these changes were leaked before the season began in American Idol spoilers from MJsBigBlog and TheIdolPad.

Audition Round Changes: New ways to audition were introduced this year. An "American Idol Small Town Audition Bus Tour" visited 10 small towns across the country to give hopefuls who could not make it to the big city auditions the chance to try out. Friends and family could also "Nominate an Idol" through an online form. If the person was selected to be given a chance, American Idol judge Randy Jackson surprised them with a golden ticket to the Hollywood rounds to audition in front of the panel. Hopeful contestants were also given the opportunity to audition online this season from August 1 to August 14, 2012.

Hollywood Week Round Changes: This year on 2013 American Idol Season 12, so-called 'Hollywood Week' was actually split into four episodes spread over two weeks. The first week featured the guys competing for spots in the Top 40. During this round, the guys were cut down to 28 contestants. The following week, the girls battled for spots in the Top 40 as well. They were eventually cut down to 20 remaining contestants, and the guys were chopped down to only 20 contestants as well -- leaving a final Top 40 to move on to the Vegas rounds.

Vegas Week Changes: On American Idol 2013 Season 12, 'Vegas Week' was also split into four episodes, airing over two weeks. In the Vegas rounds, contestants only got to perform one song and were be immediately cut from the competition if the American Idol judges were not pleased with the performance. Five singers will were during each episode, eventually resulting in a final Top 20 guys and girls to move on to the live shows.

American Idol Top 20: At the end of the Las Vegas sudden death rounds, 10 girls and 10 guys were chosen to move on to the Season 12 Top 20. American Idol Top 10: At the end of the semi-finals rounds in Las Vegas, the Season 12 Top 10 were announced as: Amber Holcomb, Angela Miller, Burnell Taylor, Candice Glover, Curtis Finch Jr., Devin Velez, Janelle Arthur, Kree Harrison, Lazaro Arbos, and Paul Jolley.

American Idol Top 3: After a week without an elimination, the votes from two performance weeks were combined to determine who would make it through to the Top 3. The three ladies chosen to battle it out to determine who would go to the American Idol finale were: Kree Harrison, Angie Miller and Candice Glover.
