Brightly colored signs dot the crowd as thousands of American Idol hopefuls wait for their chance to audition.
American Idol Season 11 auditions opened in St. Louis on June 28, where 10,000 people arrived bright and early at 5:30 a.m. to show off their vocals for producers. Thus begins the first round of auditions, when the masses are narrowed down to 50 or so hopefuls per town. The lucky few will sing for the judges later this summer. (Though we still aren’t 100% sure who those judges will be.)
The ubiquitous Ryan Seacrest was on hand, and when asked what producers were looking for this season, Ryan quipped, "Let's not put a feeling on what we're trying to find. We're not looking for people who suck." Oh come on, Ry Ry. You always let a few less-than-stellar singers through to see the judges.
But who knows? Maybe this season’s champ has already made it past the first stage...
