We have some sad news, dawg.

Venerable American Idol judge Randy Jackson is officially leaving the show after devoting 12 years to the hit reality competition.

The Wrap snagged a full statement from Randy announcing his departure.

“Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all the speculation to rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided to leave after this season,” the statement read. “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life-changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”

We have a feeling his decision to jump ship might also have something to do with reports Fox declined to renew Randy Jackson’s contract (as well as the other three American Idol judges) for any future seasons.

Still, Idol just won’t be the same without Randy’s “Yo Dawg!” and “In it to win it” declarations. As the only member of the panel to stick around for all 12 season of the show so far, Randy has shared the judge’s table with everyone from Paula Abdul to Simon Cowell to Jennifer Lopez (who, contrary to rumors, isn’t being considered to be one of the American Idol 2014 judges).

Are you sad to see Randy go, or are you excited to see American Idol 2014 invigorated with some new blood?
