Randy Jackson has definitely had his critics over these past 12 seasons of American Idol but there are three girls who remain staunchly in his corner — Candice Glover, Angie Miller, and Kree Harrison. E! Online caught up with the girls after the emotional results show last night, and they all expressed gratitude for having been part of the Era of the Dawg.
Kree talked about Randy’s kindness and generosity, saying, “Randy’s always been so helpful. He always comes up to me after the show and gives me constructive criticism.” In fact, he gave her some sage advice for the finale. As Kree told E!, “He just said, ‘Next week, don’t think about it. Just sing your heart out.’ And that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.”
In our exit interview with Angie today, the recently ousted contestant expressed her sadness over Randy leaving, too. As she put it, “He’s been a huge part of the show,” going on to say, “I feel so blessed to be a part of his journey.”
“Randy’s been here all the times that I was here, so he saw me grow and become an artist, not just a singer,” Candice told E!. “I admire him and always look forward to his opinion, so I definitely don’t think any season is ever gonna be the same without ‘in it to win it or ‘yo, dawg.’” In fact she said, “He might need to rethink that [decision]!”
If only it were that easy. Although Randy made it sound like the departure was on his terms in his goodbye statement, the rumor is that FOX decided not to renew any of the current judges’ contracts.
During her exit interview, Angie said the show will definitely be weird without Randy. We think that will be true to a certain extent, but we’re on board with a clean slate for American Idol 2014.
What do you think — should Randy stay or go? If he actually had the choice, of course?
