American Idol season 12 is heading into the dramatic finale this week but you might already be wondering: When does American Idol 2014 start? You just know the execs are already looking towards next season as well, as the rumors of a major revamp abound. While we don’t know of the show format changes just yet, the rumors of an entirely new judges panel have all but been confirmed.

FOX just announced their lineup for next year and it’s definitely going to be a season of change for the network. As Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement, “This season, we will strategically launch five inventive live-action comedies, four distinctive dramas, our first-ever event series, as well as some innovative new digital initiatives, across the week and throughout the year.”

Of course, FOX is not ditching their cash cow, American Idol, which will still join the lineup on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m., although we’re not exactly sure of the premiere date.

What do you think? Should this have been American Idol’s last year?
