Mariah Carey has officially confirmed she will not be returning as a judge for American Idol 2014. She is the second Season 12 judge to announce they will be leaving the show for good.

In a Twitter post on Thursday, Mariah Carey confirmed both her upcoming world tour and her exit from American Idol in a less than 140 characters retweet.

Mariah did not say if she quit or just wasn’t asked back, but according to the gossip circulating behind the scenes, there wasn’t an offer on the table.

Veteran American Idol judge Randy Jackson, the only member of the panel left from the first season of the show, previously announced this would be his last season as well.

What about Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban? Well, rumor has it neither of them will be coming back for American Idol 2014 to join alumni success story Jennifer Hudson at the judges’ table. Keith Urban has repeatedly stated he would love to sign on for another season if he was asked — but he hasn’t been asked yet.

As for Nicki Minaj, it seems highly unlikely American Idol producers will be wanting her back on the show for another season from what we’ve heard. And even if she was asked, she probably wouldn’t go for it after the beating she took in the press and from fans this season. Nicki hasn’t said anything officially yet, but we’re thinking it is a pretty solid no from both sides of that fence.
