For your viewing pleasure, Season 12 winner Candice Glover stopped by TV Line to do a lengthy exit interview, and she's discussing her entire American Idol canon.
The soulful singer's story began on Season 11, when she was unexpectedly cut in the group round of "Hollywood Week," and she discusses the ways in which she prepared for this season. She says that after the brutal cut, she returned to her South Carolina home and listened to country, folk, and "a lot of Taylor Swift" to prepare for another shot at the title. In the process of becoming a more well-rounded artist, she came back for this season and dominated.
Candice also talks about an inner confidence — or dare we say, diva — that allowed her to face all the online hate this season about her appearance, saying that people were saying she should lose more weight before entering the industry and that she should stop wearing so much black. Um, hello, Candice looked fierce all season. She says that this public backlash helped inspire some of her most epic songs, like "Don't Make Me Over" as well as her coronation song "I Am Beautiful."
She's dishing all about this season — as well as the last. Check out the videos below for a humble-yet-confident Candice.
