We all know Mariah Carey loves to get dolled up, dahlings, and she became known on American Idol for wearing skirts that were so tight they prevented her from joining in on the standing ovations. But the latest image of her from the sure-to-be-fall-hit film The Butler is a shocking departure from Mimi’s norm. The now-ousted American Idol judge plays field slave Hattie Pearl, and is featured in a recent photo in a cotton field sans makeup and in slave attire.
While Glitter was a huge box office bomb, Mariah is definitely going to be part of something special here. The film stars Robin Williams as Dwight D. Eisenhower, Forest Whitaker as the Eugene Butler John Cusack as Richard Nixon, and many, many more. It centers on a butler who served eight American presidents over three decades.
The Butler is based on the true story of Eugene Butler, who set about making changes in his own life and his family’s through his job serving the presidents in the White House. According to aceshowbiz.com, “The film traces the dramatic changes felt by American society at that time, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond, and how those changes affect the man's life and family.”
Another rumor that popped up recently is that Mariah is trying to put her hat in the ring to play iconic star Marilyn Monroe in an updated rendition of Some Like It Hot, so perhaps we’re entering the next phase of the pop diva’s career.
What do you think – will Mariah be able to pull off this role in The Butler?
