Jennifer Hudson’s spot at the American Idol judges table may not be confirmed just yet but one thing's for certain – the Oscar and Grammy-winning artist has cornered the market on healthy living. In fact, the Idol alum is being featured alongside other healthy celebs in the magazine USA Today The Best Ways to Stress Less, Sleep Better, which is on newsstands now.
Jennifer, whose past was marked by tragedy when her mother, sister, and nephew were killed by her sister’s estranged husband in 2008, shares her secrets on how to live healthfully. Her initial motivation came in a pint-sized package, as she and her husband wanted to model healthy living for their son, David Daniel Otunga, Jr., who was born in 2009.
The 31-year-old singer shares her insight on things like living a healthy lifestyle, managing stress, fitting exercise into a busy schedule, and getting and staying fit. Jennifer offers practical tips, such as packing a banana and a 100-calorie pack of almonds when she travels.
The Weight Watchers spokesperson, who has gone from a size 16 to a super svelte 6, looks upon eating and staying fit in a sensible way. She says that she still fits in sweets and splurges, but is very careful about her portion sizes. If she doesn’t allow herself to indulge in the occasional chocolate, Jennifer says she feels deprived. And she might not have time for a full workout, but she makes sure to move as much as possible throughout her day. She also says that her workout routine is travel-friendly, in that it mostly includes lunges, push-ups, and sit-ups.
If you think she manages all this because she’s got access to all the celebrity perks, you’d be wrong. She uses things we all have access to, including a mobile app by Weight Watchers that makes it easy to track your food intake by taking a photo. She also uses the app to input weight so, if she has fluctuations, she can look back at what she’s been eating to cause this.
Okay, we’re going to play a bit of devil’s advocate here, as a recent rumor emerged that Jennifer’s near obsession with her weight and how she looks when she leaves the house has caused issues in her marriage. What’s a person to believe? Personally, we hope she practices what she preaches, as we can’t get enough Jennifer. We may get to see quite a lot of her, too, if her $4-5 million American Idol judge contract that’s reportedly been hammered out gets executed.
