She might have been known for her lack of a filter when giving critiques on American Idol 2013, but Nicki Minaj (rather surprisingly) took the high road when asked about her time judging the singing competition. Instead of badmouthing Idol after spending only one season at the judges table, the “Super Bass” singer had nothing but kind words about her time there.
"My experience was great! It was a blessing," Nicki told E! at the launch of Myx Fusions Moscato in New York last Thursday. "I had a wonderful time and I learned a lot about myself; I learned a lot about the world's perception of me. And I think it was a great thing for hip-hop to see me transcend, and then I can come come back and still do the BET Awards and still be authentic in what I do."
Nicki said she’s glad to have been a part of launching the careers of novice singers. As she put it, “It was really inspiring, and I got a chance to see kids fulfill their dreams and be part of that." Of her time on Idol, Nicki went on to say she had “No complaints whatsoever!”
But when it comes to what's next for American Idol, don’t ask her to make any predictions as to who will sit at the table next year.
"I have no idea, but God bless them!" Nicki said with a laugh.
As for hanging up her judge's hat, Nicki won’t close the door on other TV opportunities — even when it comes to one of those infamous swivel chairs on The Voice.
"You never know, anything can happen!" she answered evasively.
