American Idol Season 12 winner Candice Glover has lost 30 pounds since the show began... on what could be called the “Too-Busy-To-Eat” diet!
As the vocal powerhouse told PEOPLE while rehearsing for the American Idol Live! 2013 Tour, “Over the course of the show, from January to May, I probably dropped 20 pounds. And I've lost about 10 more since the finale.”
While Candice admits there hasn’t been an active effort on her part, she credits her new and busy lifestyle for helping her drop the weight. “I just walk a lot in the airports, and then we are rehearsing the choreography. I call [the rehearsal room] the gym."
Ever the humble girl, Candice said, “I've always – well maybe I haven't always – been comfortable with who I am. This weight is just dropping off because of my crazy schedule. [...] It is always good to be healthy, so I am happy about it."
We’re happy for her, as we know she’s been hurt by some direct and indirect comments made about her weight in the past.
Unlike Candice, fellow Season 12 alum Burnell Taylor, who shed 40 pounds in a month before going on the show, has taken a more active approach to maintaining the weight loss.
As the New Orleans native told PEOPLE, “When I went back home [after being eliminated], I wanted to lose more weight so I had some wiggle room just in case I decided to go crazy with the food.”
Hmmm...that’s probably not the best approach, but we still love Burnell.
As for how he feels about losing the weight and maintaining it, he said, “I look at old pictures of myself and try and stop myself from crying because it is just amazing.”
His ultimate goal? Hard abs!
"After the tour, I want to get a six-pack because I have wanted that since I was fat. I want that to be how I am for the rest of my life.”
Perhaps he’s trying to impress the object of his affection, fellow finalist Amber Holcomb. Either way, we’re happy for Burnell... and for Candice!
