Sixth time's a charm, right?

American Idol judge and all-around TV personality Ryan Seacrest just received his sixth Primetime Emmy Awards nomination for hosting the reality singing competition show, but the sad truth is that he's never won before.

Ryan's on-air charm and ability to usher the contestants on and off the stage is astounding, but his real talent is keeping a tight grip on the judges, with this past season being the craziest ever with Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj going at it all the time. He's gone through a lot of changes with the show and really deserves some respect for what he does.

The category for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program was only created in 2008, so Ryan didn't have a chance to win back when Idol was on top, but at least he's getting some respect for doing such a good job dealing with constant changes and live TV.

The king of this category has been Jeff Probst for his Survivor duties, winning every single year since the category was created. But last year the title was taken from him by Dancing With The StarsTom Bergeron. Both Ryan and Tom are nominated again this year.

American Idol itself has never won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, which was created in 2003. The Amazing Race has won every single year except in 2010 when Top Chef took home the gold. In fact, Idol hasn't been nominated in that category since 2011, so maybe the show itself is bringing Ryan down?
