Kelly Clarkson is "Miss Independent" no more! The original American Idol winner is set to marry talent manager Brandon Blackstock on October 20, at which point she will officially become a mom. No, no, Kelly isn't pregnant (yet!), but she will become a stepmom to Brandon's two kids, ages 6 and 12.

Despite her tough girl exterior, it turns out the "Tie It Up" has a natural propensity for motherhood.

"We all live together and everything," Kelly told Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM on August 20. "It's so different, but it's perfect. They're awesome and I actually really dig the mom thing."

But don't take the 31-year-old for a softie. Kelly also dished that she's quick to discipline the kids, a trait she picked up from her own mom while growing up in small town Texas.

"My mom was a hard mom. I'm probably that mom," she added.

Back in 2011, Kelly told People she'd love to have four kids one day — and even would consider putting music on hold to be a full-time mom!

"I don't know if I'll retire," she told the magazine, "but it won't be as full-on. Obviously things will supersede music."

With five studio albums under her belt since her American Idol win in 2002 and a new album set for release this October, we think Kelly's definitely earned the right to temporarily breakaway from the music biz. (Breakaway. See what we did there?)
