UPDATE (8/31/03): Harry Connick Jr. is in as the third American Idol judge, a source close to the show told The Hollywood Reporter. We still have to wait for official confirmation, but it's looking good for Harry. Are you wild about the idea of him joining Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban at the judges' table?
Deadline reports that the 45-year-old jazz singer and pianist is "on a shortlist of candidates for the seat on the Idol judging table."
Harry's no stranger to the Idol beat, however: He served as mentor during Seasons 10 and 12.
As the site points out, when Harry visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen asked whether he'd become a judge. (She, in case you forgot, judged Season 9.)
"Well, yeah, I mean I had a really good time!" Harry said at the time. "I had a good time mentoring. Judging is a whole different deal; I don’t know how good I would be at that."
In addition to selling over 25 million albums worldwide, Harry is also a seasoned actor, having appeared in Will & Grace, Independence Day, Hope Floats, P.S. I Love You, and Dolphin Tale.
What do you think? Would he bring a wealth of information to the table? Or would his addition throw the show into disharmony? Let us know your thoughts below!
