After getting caught, Jason apologized via Facebook, writing, "I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself."
However, Jason and his wife of almost 12 years, Jessica Ussery, split just a few months later.
Now Jason is preparing for the 2013 CMA Awards, which will air November 6 on ABC; he’s nominated in a few categories, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year.
The day before the show, Jason will discuss the cheating scandal that led to his divorce in a 20/20 special called In the Spotlight With Robin Roberts: Countdown to the CMA Awards.
According to ABC, Jason “opens up exclusively to Roberts about fame, family, and tabloid headlines he says helped end his marriage.” (Is he really going to try to blame the tabloids for the end of the marriage? It seems like he did that just fine on his own.)
The special will air Tuesday, November 5 at 10 p.m. on ABC. Are you curious to hear what he has to say, and how his life has changed since the scandal?
