In case you missed it, January 15's premiere of American Idol Season 13 showed a fair number of stars taking their turn on the audition stage. One of the evening's brightest was Savion Wright.
The dread-locked guitar player shared a sweet story of how music's helped him address his ADHD and given him focus in life. After eight seasons of practice, Savion finally felt ready to audition in Austin, Texas. He took a risk and sang an original song called "Both Sides of Me."
The gamble paid off with judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr, and Keith Urban totally in love with all sides of Savion. They handed him a golden ticket to Hollywood Week with Harry even warning the young man that he'll have to learn how to be nice to the other competitors who will likely be jealous of his talent.
Sadly, during the February 5 episode, we learned Savion lost his brother just a couple short weeks prior to flying out to California. Somehow he's able to make it through and the judges have no problem sending him on to the group round of Hollywood Week.
Unfortunately, he didn't make it into the Top 31. How could this possibly be? We're bummed about it.
Honestly, though, we're just happy we got to hear Savion sing at all.
What do you make of the news? Think he could come back in Season 14 and win this?
