We’ve reached the second week of American Idol and if last week's premiere was any indication, we're in for a phenomenal season! The show is already proving to be different from seasons past, as we’ve said goodbye to the judges’ squabbles and hello to Harry Connick, Jr! (Seriously, can that guy can’t get any more adorable? We don’t thinks so.)

Of course, the one thing that hasn’t changed are the numerous rounds of auditions. January 22’s episode finds the judges headed to Detroit in hopes of tracking down the country’s next big superstar.

It’s here where Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. meet 16-year-old Malaya Watson. She’s clearly bursting with personality and playing the tuba in her high school marching only adds to her quirkiness. When she decides to loosen up and do a little shimmy on the audition stage, we prepare ourselves for the rest. However, we never could have expected that she’d blow the judges away with her soulful performance of “Ain’t No Way.”

“Thank you, thank you, for doing such a great job!” says Harry. (Clearly we must have missed some pretty bad auditions before this.) “

“I don’t need to hear anything else!” adds J.Lo. “You’re blessed. God gave you something so pure and real and special. I can’t wait to see how you go through this transformation.”

What do you think of Malaya’s performance? Will she make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
