It’s not that this 17-year-old student from Orlando, Florida, isn’t talented. It’s just how those tricky Idol producers cut her audition footage with those of fellow contestant Kirsten O’Connor. Both ladies were so good we were afraid only one would get through. Thankfully, however, that was just a little TV magic at work and the judges sent Emily on to Hollywood no problem.
She’s already gearing up her Idol fanbase, too! Emily has her own Facebook fan page and Twitter going. It’s thanks to the latter one that we’ve uncovered the lucky guy we believe is Emily’s boyfriend: one Matthew Walesch of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines Fox Company. Typically we’d chalk his enthusiastic tweet about Em’s audition as just an online creeper but she retweeted it so, you know, we kinda believe him about the “boyfriend” part.
Idol actually isn’t Emily’s first trip down the twisty road of reality television. She competed on The X Factor in 2012 and reportedly won a Fast Pass through auditions before getting the axe soon after. We hear Emily’s stint on Idol goes much better than on that other Fox music competition reality series — particularly now that she's in the Top 30 — cough — 31.
