Talented, charming, and, did we mention, good-looking, Spencer looks to have all the key ingredients needed to make it past Hollywood (or so our sources tell us). The youth leader from Arkansas recently stopped by his hometown Fox news station to fill us in on how Idol’s been treating him so far.
“You tore it up last night!” a very eager newscaster tells the bashful Spencer. “I’m telling ya, if the judges are talking in the middle of your performance and they basically cut you off before you even finished it, that’s a good sign.”
True, but, as Spencer points out, he had no idea what the judges might be whispering while he was performing. It was all good though and he made it through no problem. But as he advances further and further ahead, the teen heartthrob admits he’s having trouble dealing with the stresses of the competition.
“It’s constantly a building process trying to get to the top,” he says of the show. “It’s a really difficult thing to try and say, ‘I’m going to be the next American Idol.’ I’ve grown so close with many of the other people on the show. Really trying to compete with them has been the biggest difficulty for me. They’ve all become like family.”
As sweet as that may be, Spencer’s going to have to check his sentimentality at the stage door. This kid’s going places. He already has the fan t-shirts to prove it!
