How heartbreaking it must be to get so far on American Idol Season 13, only to just miss out on the Top 31 during Hollywood Week. But for the names below, their journey on Idol — at least for the year 2014 — ended during the episode tonight, February 12.

The first contestant to go was Madelyn Patterson, who was visibly shaky as she sat across from the judges — and Keith Urban was the bearer of bad news, telling her that Season 13 wasn't her season.

We also saw LeBryant Crew and Sabrina Lentini get tickets home — though neither got more than a few seconds of screen time tonight.

Keri Lynn Roche gave a rousing rendition of Etta James's "I'd Rather Go Blind," but the judges didn't mind — to quote Etta — seeing her walk away.

Jesse Roach and Jess Meuse had to perform on the spot for one slot in the Top 31. After both women sang their hearts out, Harry Connick, Jr. announced the decision: "For the purposes of what we're trying to do, the person who's going through is Jessica. We're so sorry, Jesse."

The journey also ended for Casey McQuillen. "I'm very proud of you for perfecting your craft, and that's ultimately what's going to take you very far in the world of entertainment," Harry told her.

J.Lo had kind words for fellow washout Nia Nashae: "I just want you to know that I was pulling for you.

The judges brought Leah Guerrero and Andrina Brogden in together, and let the former down easy. In the flashbacks to Andrina's audition, it seemed like Harry was comparing her to Leah: "She's what the other girl wanted to be."

That's all the cuts for tonight's episode — but more will get the axe tomorrow night, we fear. See you then!
