Though we definitely got a preview of Live Performances during American Idol’s all-new Rush Week, the time we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. The final 13 contestants will be battling it out in the hopes of becoming the next big superstar — and the fun and craziness all begins tonight (February 26)!

In another effort to distinguish the show from the previous 12 seasons, Idol producers have decided to be a little bit more lenient with their weekly themes. Instead of going with narrow and recycled themes like Motown and Billy Joel, producers have opted for broader topics, like tonight’s theme, “This Is Me.”

Second to take the stage is Malaya Watson, the quirky 16-year-old from Southfield, Michigan. After wowing the judges with “powerhouse” vocals during Rush Week, Malaya hopes to show her true colors with “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars. “It’s really UP like me!” she explains to Ryan Seacrest.

While Malaya doesn’t deliver her strongest performance of the competition, the judges still think she’s got massive potential.

“I love you, I love your energy,” says J.Lo. “The way you came out here, I felt like I was at the show. You command that stage in a way that a superstar is supposed to command that stage. [But] that wasn’t your best vocal performance. We know that you can blow, so that was like eh. And at the end there, it went a little off the rails for me. But still, you’re a contender, baby.”
