It’s hard to believe that American Idol started almost two months ago, but here we are watching the Top 12 compete for the country’s votes! The producers of the show have decided to stick with their decision to embrace some broader themes this year, which means the contestants won’t be stuck with narrow topics like Motown or Billy Joel.

Tonight’s episode (March 5) is sure to bring some serious competition, as the contestants sing songs that remind themselves of “Home.” Though we’ve gotten to know the remaining contestants fairly well over the last few weeks, the personal theme promises to reveal more intimate sides of them than we’ve seen before.

Next to take the stage is Jessica Meuse, the 23-year-old country rocker from Slapout, Alabama. After showing the judges a different side of her last week with her “haunting” performance of “The Crow and the Butterfly,” Jess switches it up yet again with Dido’s “White Flag.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like her choice paid off. “When you walked out, it felt a little bit blasé,” says Harry. “Normally when I see you perform, it’s like a laser beam. [But] you were sharp the whole time. And I saw something that rarely happens on American Idol. Whenever anyone hits a high note on that stage, everyone unanimously applauds. But it didn’t happen this time. You were so off that I think people can hear that.”

Do you think Jessica deserves to make it to the Top 11? Sound off in the comments!
