It’s back to Broadway for one American Idol alum! Fantasia Barrino will be reprising her role in After Midnight, the jazzy tribute to the Harlem Renaissance that features the big band hits of Duke Ellington.

The 29-year-old mother of two previously appeared in the show during its November 2013 debut. She’ll return to the stage later this spring from May 13 to June 8. Making Fantasia’s return all the sweeter: a portion of ticket sales from her first show will go to the Harlem School of the Arts. (Nothing better than entertainment for a cause!)

“Life on tour is really great, but I miss my Broadway family at After Midnight,” the Season 3 winner tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to rejoin this incredible company while also supporting the Harlem School of the Arts, whose mission is close to my heart.”

The show is a revue rather than a traditional musical, and has a revolving docket of equally bright stars including Toni Braxton, Babyface, and Vanessa Williams. Fantasia’s return will fall right in the window of prime voting for the Tony Awards, giving us hope she may land herself one of the night’s biggest prizes!

What do you make of Fantasia's big news? Love her on Broadway or wish she’d record another album instead?
