Hold on to your hats, American Idol fans: Randy Jackson is making a major lifestyle change. Nope, he’s not ditching his Idol mentorship duties — he’s retiring one of his favorite catchphrases.

“I’m going to stop saying yo,” Randy announced on Twitter on April 2.

Hearing that Randy wants to give up the simple two letter word that has practically made him the man he is today? Hard to believe. But at least he’s not giving up “dawg,” right? That might require a 12-step program.

And, truth be told, Randy’s not actually giving up “yo,” either. Later, Randy admitted that his tweet was just an April Fool’s Joke. Phew! If Randy made such a dramatic change in his vocabulary, it would mean a lot of changes for the former Idol judge, including but not limited to changing his Twitter handle. He can’t be @YO_RANDYJACKSON without the “yo.”

Besides, we’re still reeling from Kesha dropping the dollar sign in her name, so give us a minute to absorb, guys!
