It feels like only yesterday that we could barely keep track of the contestants on American Idol, but now we’re just a month and a half away from finding out the winner of Season 13! Each Thursday, we watch as the hopefuls get whittled down one-by-one — and we’ll admit, it’s gets tougher with each and every elimination.
Of course, tonight (April 3) was no different. Despite being treated to a special performance by Season 5 contestant Chris Daughtry, we got a little emotional as we learned which singers landed themselves in the dreaded bottom three. While Dexter Roberts, Jena Irene, Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, and Alex Preston all sailed through with flying colors, it was Malaya Watson, CJ Harris, and Sam Woolf who were forced to keep their seats on the stools.
After what seemed like a lifetime, Ryan Seacrest finally announced the smallest vote-earner of the night — 17-year-old Sam Woolf. Sam took the stage to sing for the judges save, opting to go with David Gray’s “Babylon,” the song he sang all the back during Rush Week.
With less than a minute to go, the judges scrambled to make their decision. It didn’t seem to be that hard, however, because they unanimously decided to keep Sam around for another week!
We couldn’t be more excited that this cutie-patootie will be back on the Idol stage, and we’re sure all his screaming teenage fans feel the same way!
When Idol returns next week on Wednesday, April 9, the remaining eight contestants will be taking on songs from the ‘80s! (Too bad Sam wasn’t even born yet!)
Are you happy that the judges decided to save Sam, or was it wasted on someone who will just end up getting eliminated next week?
