Feel like you’re having a bit of déjà vu to last week’s American Idol? Fear not, because we promise you’re not going crazy! Indeed, the Top 8 of Season 13 are taking the Idol stage for the second week in a row after the judges used their one and only save on Sam Woolf.

Despite the oldest contestants in the competition being just 23 years old (man, we feel ancient!), the eight remaining hopefuls will be taking on songs from the 1980s. That’s right, these talented hopefuls have been tasked with singing numbers that were popular before they were even born!

Next to take the stage is Alex Preston, who’s really made his mark on the competition by putting his indie, acoustic spin on every song he’s sung. We get excited every time he steps onstage to perform, but this time, his rendition of “Every Breath You Take” doesn’t totally impress the judges.

“It sounded like a new tune,” says Harry, following the performance. “But as I watch you week to week, one thing that keeps coming to mind is the difference between being a performer and an entertainer. A performer can play anywhere, but an entertainer is someone that brings something slightly different. You have to make it stage-worthy. At some point the coffee house treatment is going to catch up to you.”

Do you think Alex deserves to make it through to next week? Watch the video below and sound off in the comments!
