We’re almost down to a handful of contestants on Season 13 of American Idol, which means the competition is the fiercest it’s been since we started back in January. Instead of the usual duet performances we’ve been seeing over the last few weeks, the hopefuls will be taking on two songs apiece. It’s sure to be an interesting challenge, as the numbers will be strikingly different from each other: one that’s a little bit country and another that’s rock ‘n’ roll. (Yeah, that was a Donny and Marie reference. Don’t judge us. It’s Idol’s fault.)

Taking the stage for her first performance of the night is Jessica Meuse, with Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love.” After a pretty disappointing and uncomfortable performance last week, Jessica is back behind the guitar and rocking some seriously badass leather. It’s definitely one of the better performances we’ve seen from her weeks, but will it be enough to outshine the other contestants?

“You’re here because you have this fantastic voice,” says Harry. “And what just you did is how you present that voice in the strongest possible way. I thought it was really strong. You stood there, and you sang it, and you delivered it. and it was strong. Nice job.”

“It was vocally strong,” adds Keith. “It played to your tonal strengths. I would still like to see a little more release. You’ve got to figure out how to do that because everybody’s different.”
