As we get to know the American Idol contestants week after week, we make the mistake of getting attached. We can’t help it — we’re watching people’s lifelong dreams on the line! But unfortunately, it is a competition, and when it gets this close to the end, it’s time to start sending even crazy talented people home because there can only be one winner. It stinks, but it’s the way it is.
Was America right to send Jess home? If it makes any sense, she seemed to be the least talented of a group of really talented people, which isn’t to say Jess isn’t talented. Her performances just couldn’t stand up to the ones that Jena, Caleb, and Alex gave this week. A lot of that, we think, has to do with song choice. Jess picked songs that were so not fitted to her strengths, and we’re not sure why that happened. If it was our job to choose for her, poppy top 40 hits would be nowhere in the mix.
But even though her time on Idol has come to an end, Jess' career as a musician is just getting going. We don’t get the feeling that Jess is going to give up on her dreams just because she got kicked off of a singing competition. This girl is going to do great things!
Good luck out there, Jess! We’ll see you this summer on tour!
Are you happy with America’s decision to send Jess home, or do you think another contestant should’ve left?
