It's the question we've been waiting to answer for what seems like forever: Who won American Idol Season 13! Finally, with barely a minute left in the two-hour episode on May 21, we got the final results. But we're going to take a cue from Ryan Seacrest and not tell you right away. First, let's remember who's in the running.
After more than five months of heated competitions, Jena Irene Asciutto and Caleb Johnson are the two left hoping to claim Season 13 for their own. And while both have been strong from the start, they're at different ends of the musical spectrum so judging them seems almost impossible. Apples and oranges, people. Apples and oranges. But fruit's not in fashion on Idol and somebody's got to be the judge. Looking at you Harry Connick, Jr., Keith Urban, and Jennifer Lopez.
OK, enough teasing. Want to know the winner? Of course you do! It was... Caleb!
In a move we're admittedly surprised by, the Meatloaf-esque singer took home the title, making Jena No. 2 in this year's race. Not that we think she'll have any trouble getting her music career off the ground. Did you see her performance with Paramore tonight?
As confetti fell and Caleb looked like he was holding back tears (us too, bud!), we basked in the fact that we saw another American Idol come to an end. This was the thirteenth season, y'all, and although there's already another on the books, something about this one just felt extra special tonight.
Were you surprised Caleb won? Saw it coming all season long? Tell us (and celebrate) in the comments.
